Aesthetic Medicine

In today’s era, beauty has become a supreme value. Everyone seeks it, and everyone wants to preserve it forever. “A person is healthy when they are in harmony with the various stages of life, both physically and mentally.”

Based on this principle, in 1973, Dr. J. J. Legrand introduced a new branch of medical practice called Aesthetic Medicine, which was later disseminated worldwide by Prof. Carlo Alberto Bartoletti. This field focuses on restoring psychosomatic balance while optimizing an individual’s overall appearance through both invasive and non-invasive procedures.

The term “Aesthetic Medicine” is becoming increasingly common nowadays. It is discussed in medical circles but has also gained recognition among the general public. As a result, the demand for aesthetic medical treatments is rising daily, both nationwide and globally. A key pillar of aesthetic medicine is that it is a specialization that offers treatment not only for physical concerns but also for psychological well-being.

Aesthetic medicine is not a medical specialty, nor is it dermatology, ophthalmology, or plastic surgery. It is a specialization that can only be practiced by medical professionals from various fields who have completed specialized courses or master’s programs in this area. Aesthetic medicine is defined as the optimization of a person’s psychosomatic well-being. Any doctor from any specialty can practice it, provided they have received the necessary academic training. Over the past decades, aesthetic medical interventions have increased significantly. Today, three decades later, this field has gained worldwide recognition, with the establishment of specialized postgraduate programs for doctors from different specialties.

Some may consider the desire to enhance one’s external appearance as vanity, but the philosophy of aesthetic medicine proves the exact opposite. Aesthetic medicine is a form of disease prevention because it affects three key systems: the neuropsychiatric, endocrine, and immune systems, which must always be in complete balance.

To put it simply, when a person wakes up in the morning and feels satisfied with their appearance, it automatically has a positive effect on their neuropsychiatric system, generating feelings of happiness and well-being. These emotions are proven to influence hormone production and secretion, leading to positive effects on the endocrine system. The proper functioning of these systems ultimately improves the immune system. Everything is interconnected.

Modern advancements in Aesthetic Medicine allow us to avoid surgery and achieve the desired results through careful selection rather than necessity. With the right guidance and consultation from a medical professional, individuals can choose from a variety of non-invasive aesthetic procedures, including Botox, fillers, PRP, mesotherapy, injectable threads, chemical peels, RF (radiofrequency), laser treatments, and more.
