The General / Family Doctor is the personal physician for each patient, primarily responsible for providing comprehensive and continuous care to anyone seeking medical attention, regardless of age, gender, or type of illness. They are the appropriately trained physician to offer “Primary Health Care” to individuals. This care includes health promotion, disease prevention, maintenance of health, counseling, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. This care may sometimes be achieved with the collaboration of other healthcare professionals to whom the General Doctor refers their patient.
